Pornstar requirements: what you need to be a performer
Short answer: in the United States you must be 18 or older and prove it with government-issued ID, hold a current STD panel for every shoot, and be legally able to work and be paid. Nothing else is a requirement. Experience, a following, a specific look or body type, and living in Los Angeles are not.
Age and ID
Federal law (18 U.S.C. 2257) requires producers to verify and keep records that every performer is at least 18. You will show government-issued photo ID before any shoot, and a copy is kept on file by the producer. We also verify your ID through a third-party service before you ever speak to someone, so that the only people who reach a call are verified adults. No legitimate studio, agent or recruiter skips this step. Anyone who does is a warning sign, not a shortcut.
STD testing
Every studio shoot requires a full panel current within roughly 14 days of the shoot date, from a provider studios recognise. The panel typically covers HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea and trichomoniasis. Who pays for the test is agreed on your first call and written into your deal. You will never be asked to shoot with a partner who cannot show a current test, and you should never agree to.
Right to work and paperwork
You are paid as a contractor, so you need to be legally able to work in the United States and complete tax paperwork under your legal name. That name is used only for ID, testing and payment records, which stay private. Everything public uses your stage name.
A written limits list
Not a legal requirement, but a practical one. Studios book around what you will and will not do. Writing it down before your first call gets you booked faster and protects you on set, where you can still change it at any time.

- Money. There is no application fee, registration fee or portfolio fee. Ever.
